As long as you mind the aforementioned caveats and totally commit yourself to learning proper, real world japanese, anime can be a helpful tool as opposed to a distraction. why you should learn japanese with anime. really, it ain’t all bad! anime has a lot to offer any budding japanese student.. I’ve been known in the past to say you can’t learn japanese from anime… and that’s still quite true. the amount of people out there who watch thousands of hours of (admittedly addicting) anime under the pretense that they’re “learning” japanese is startling.. Like most of you, the main reason i decided to learn japanese was anime. watching anime has always been a magnificent escape for me. i loved being able to dive into these awesome fantasy worlds..
I can read spanish better than i can read japanese even though i can’t hold a conversation in spanish (i can in japanese). but i am sure that watching japanese with japanese subtitles is a good method for me and seems to be working well for my close japanese-learning friends.. You can’t learn japanese from anime! everyone says that the language used is different than normal—too informal and too childish, perhaps, or too made-up and imaginative. well, with the right approach, you can learn japanese from anything that hails from japan , including anime!. But if you can read, you’ll learn from everything around you, and your japanese will improve tremendously. not to mention that in your own study, you’ll need to write things down. doing that in, say, only hiragana would quickly become a mess..
